Nando’s Art Initiative presents Nik Mohd Shazmie’s ‘Home Sweet Home’

Nik Mohd Shazmie's Home Sweet HomeNando’s creative space cum art gallery is now in full swing with Nando’s Art Iniative 2014 Fine Art Grand Prize Winner, Nik Mohd Shazmie bin Nik Shairozi’s first solo art exhibition. As part of Nando’s continuous commitment and support to the winners of Nando’s Art Initiative, Shazmie will be exhibiting his collection of artworks entitled ‘Home Sweet Home’ at Lot 123, Nando’s Chinatown.

This exhibition is an intimate reflection of who he is and completely embodies his personality. Everything around him that gives him a sense of being at home – tin toys, wigs, costumes, food and his family – is a source of inspiration for this captivating exhibition.

Dinner with Mr. WarholHis unique style of painting is dubbed ‘pop-surrealism’. They tend to feature distorted figures in a tragic-comedy setting that portrays the ironic and farcical situations many of us unexpectedly experience with a nonchalant shrug and a ‘don’t worry, be happy’ attitude. His creations are heavily influenced by comic art composition, pop icons and symbols that portray a realistic rendering of wit and mischief.

To assist Shazmie in expanding his artistic horizons and increase his exposure to the vast world of art, Nando’s invited him and his younger brother and fellow competitor, Nik Shahfiz on a five-day visit to its active art initiative in South Africa. There they were introduced to the exotic artistic style intrinsic to South Africa – some influences visible in his current exhibition.

Lets Take a Wefie“Shazmie is by far one of the most active and passionate artist Nando’s has had on Nando’s Art Initiative. We cannot be more proud of him for what he has achieved and what he will achieve in the local and international art scene,” said Mac Chung Lynn, Group CEO of Nando’s Chickenland Malaysia and Singapore.

Nik’s ‘Home Sweet Home’ exhibition is open to the public for viewing and purchase from 28th July – 10th August 2015 at Lot 123, Nando’s Chinatown, Jalan Sultan daily from 12 pm to 8 pm.
